Ramsbottom Model Railway Club

Sorry for the lack of recent updates but I have not been able to attend due to work commitments in Lancaster. Having been working up North I have not been able to attend as much as I would of liked.

Members Present – Danny Jones, Alex King, Keith Cragg, Alan Garside and Peter Hankinson.

Members Not Present – Matt Milburn – Work Commitments.

Here are some updates that the lads have been up to in my absence –

• Alan has been building a signal box for the Bacup layout. 26E Bacup Shed had a Signal Box called Bacup Loco which controlled the shed sidings. His model of this box is almost complete having the top box on top of the brick base, roof made, windows glazed and detail added to the inside.
• On my recent trip down I noticed some really old chairs that have been sat in the corner adj the front door for awhile, these have now been reduced to fire wood and will be going to the tip at the weekend.
• Three gas bottles have been removed from the club house to be refilled for the winter by FloGas of Burnley. These have now been ordered and shall keep us warm over the coming winter months.
• As Alan is our chairman it would appear that he has a new chair. He has managed to get it off his neighbor who never used it so appears to be brand new, could be a sign of his old age.
• Our dehumidifier has started to give us a bit of trouble. We had it stripped down but it looks as though the fan is on its way out. So we are also on the look out for a new one.
• Keith has asked for a start on wiring the underside of Bacup Shed Layout. Holes have been drilled through every support. We have also ordered some Plug in Connector blocks and Tag Boards from Rapid Components.
• We also have an ongoing debate about the coaling stage for Bacup Shed. We have been given a picture which Alex has found on the internet which he thinks is the correct but other members are unsure. We also located pictures online showing the coaling stage in different angles but show a chimney, different brickwork etc.
