Hello People…
Its been awhile since there has been an update on here and to be honest I have not really had much say since the passing of Roger or really thought there was a reason to post but Ive had a few people ask me whats the latest and thought that i may aswell put a list together and try and get back in the swing of things.
Well I may aswell start from after Roger passed…. Me (Dan), Alex and Alan attended Roger Wilson’s funeral which was held at Radcliffe Crematorium on Tuesday, April 24, at 2.00 pm. We never realised how much Roger was loved by the number of people who attended his funeral, It was a really nice send off, you would of been proud my friend. After the service there was a little get togther and buffet down at Ramsbottom Cricket Club where we got to meet Rogers Family and Friends.
Since then we have been doing a few odd bits like a few bits of ballasting in certain area’s on the back boards, changed a few more points that have been worn in and give up after 30 years of use, bought some 8 ton mineral wagons that have a rusty effect, bought a few more loco’s, Changed a main point on the entry to the rear loops on the up line which is located right underneath the tunnel.
But one of the main items we decided to look into was the continuation of 26E Bacup Shed. Over the last couple of weeks we have been deciding whether it was worth carrying on with this project untill Alan brought down a piece of board that kick started it off again…..so at this moment in time we are currently making 3 sections which will each have a frame work of 2×1 timber supports and bracing these will be joined together by roofing bolts and nuts…..we are even considering where our cables between boards will be able to use USB connections…..oh and we are having a turntable….
We also currently have posters out around the East Lancashire Railway Stations and Library’s around Ramsbottom, we are hoping to recruit 1 or 2 new members to help with the survival of our club. It is with great sadness that we receive the news that the Bolton and District Model Group will be disbanding in the near future. If any of you would like to get in touch then please email me eagle1711@hotmail.com
Cheers
Dan
